ON3

ON 3 was formed in 1998 as a natural outgrowth of these 3 musicians’ burgeoning reaches in music. Founding members’ percussionist Gilad and guitarist Vinny Valentino together create the heart of this innovative trio with a revolving bass chair which has been filled by some of the worlds finest including: Richard Bona, Jeff Andrews, Matt Garrison, Matt Parrish, John Benitez, Essiet Essiet, and Santi DeBriano.
Vinny Valentino (1964) playing guitar since age six, began touring in a progressive rock band while still in high school. At age 16, influenced by the music of George Benson, Vinny began pursuing jazz as a career. Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at Howard University. In 1988 first solo recording entitled, Vinny Valentino.Vinny has shared the stage or recording studio with such jazz greats as Tom Scott, Gary Bartz, Jeff Andrews, Randy Brecker, Bill Evans, Richard Bona, Bob Moses, George Benson, Keter Betts, Victor Bailey, Steve Gadd, Dennis Chambers, Patrice Rushen, Charlie Byrd, Buck Hill, and Jimmy McGriff.
One of the first musicians to perform live on the World Wide Web, Vinny continues to pioneer on the Internet with online clinics, performances and lessons.
John Patitucci (1959) began playing the electric bass at age ten, moved from playing soul and rock to blues, jazz and classical music, studied classical bass at two Univeristies and is now a well known studio musician and a jazz artist.
In the style of great contemporary musicians, ON 3 continues to redefine musical genres, expanding the boundaries of jazz, Latin, Brazilian, world, and popular music and reaching across cultures and ages through the intimacies of their melodies, the intricacies of their harmonies, and the infectiousness of their rhythms. Their new CD “Guess What?” represents the next chapter for world of music.
