"To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it's about, but the music the words make." - Truman Capote

Coparck

Coparck (Amsterdam/the Netherlands) has been around for a while, unleashing their mix of melodic, eclectic indie-pop. ‘A jazzed-up post-rocking city view’ layered with samples and old synthesizer sounds. With influences ranging from Beck, Blur and the Beatles to Ben Folds five, Bacharach and Bach. As one critic put it; ‘Coparck’s songs are extremely accessible, yet oddly angular, instantly hummable, yet challenging’.

A DOG AND PONY SHOW - 2009

After a year filled with side projects, music-scores and solo projects, Coparck is back with a new album called 'A Dog And Pony Show'. Together with producer Reyn they produced a diverse album full of vibrant and energetic songs. The titletrack kicks off with an instantly smooth pumping sound and ends with a stunning trumpet solo by jazz virtuoso Eric Vloeimans. An album full of subtle pop hooks and swirling, haunting melodies that work their way deep into the listener's subconscious. For their live performances guitarist Gijs Coolen joined the band to live up to their album reputation.

THE 3rd ALBUM - 2007

After two albums, recording, producing and mixing all their music by themselves,

the band decided to improve on their 'Do-It-Yourself' mentality and take it to a next level.

The 3rd album (appropriately called ‘The 3rd Album’) was a co-operation with producer Reyn.

His recording studio, filled with old analogue synths, pianos and rare musical apparatuses,

was an apt place for the quartet to put their creativity to the test.

12 haunting songs found their way into this work of fiction. The first single ‘A good year

for the robots’, the slightly ironic ‘God dress America’, the uplifting ‘You will fall’ and the

mesmerizing ‘Funny, dark, iconoclastic’ were a just a few of the highlights on the album.

Coparck released a newspaper and a magazine-like booklet coming with the album, a compilation of 12 photographs by talented Dutch artists and photographers and 12 little stories accompanying the 12 songs.

FORMER ALBUMS:

Their debut-album ‘Birds, Happiness And Still Not Worried’ (Labels/Virgin 2001) has been released in Europe and Japan and was accompanied by the frenzy single/videoclip ‘Into Routine’.

Their second album: ‘Few Chances Come Once In A Lifetime’ (Supertracks) was again recorded and produced by Coparck in their own recording studio. The single 'The World Of Tomorrow' was played extensively on national radio last year, and the apocalyptic red

videoclip was made by video artists Persijn Broersen and Margit Lukacs.

The song was also used as a score for a Dutch TV ad. Coparck has been nominated by the VPRO for best Dutch album of 2005.
