Wouter Planteijdt

Wouter Planteijdt is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and much sought after ‘gun for hire’ in the Dutch music scene, especially loved and respected among fellow musicians. Together with bass player Thijs Vermeulen and drummer Richard Heijerman he sings and ‘guitars’ in the rock trio Sjako!. While recording their Page album for Turtle Records last year, somewhere between songs Wouter Planteijdt was loosely playing a Bobby Charles song. Singing alone -cigarette on the lower lip, little red wine waiting at his feet- with just his haunting electric guitar, it felt like a kick in the back of my knees. Unfortunately, we never got to record that song. Besides, it wouldn’t fit on that particular album. But it did trigger the idea for this new recording.
