"Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens." - Maria von Trapp

Davy Mooney’s musical background includes attending the New Orleans Centre for Creative Arts and then the University of North Texas where he studied guitar with Fred Hamilton and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies, whilst there he played in the Grammy nominated One O’Clock Lab band. Moving back to New Orleans in 2001 he continued his studies at the University of New Orleans and earned a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies while playing in the Louis Armstrong Quintet, a group founded by a grant from the Louis Armstrong Foundation to teach Jazz to high school students in New Orleans. With them, he took part in the 2005 North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland. During this time he was also busy teaching at his old Alma Mater the New Orleans Centre for Creative Arts, appearing with the Django Reinhardt inspired Hot Club of New Orleans which included performances at the 2005 Ascona Jazz Festival in Switzerland and at Lincoln Center in New York City. He now divides his time between New York and New Orleans, but still regards the latter as home, sweet home.
Before making this CD, his first for an internationally distributed label, Davy had independently released two CDs, ‘Balance of Time’ in 2002 and ‘Luckless Pedestrian’ in 2003.
