Mikkel Nordsø

Born to be a musician. Mikkel Nordsø comes from a family of artists. His late father, Jens Nordsø, was a visual artist and desig- ned all the covers for the first many years. The cover on this anniversary edition is designed in his style, and is the hommage of a son towards his father. The Danes got to know Mikkel Nordsø, when he with among others his older brother, percussion player, Klavs Nordsø, and half-brother, guitar player and producer, Kim Sagild, made his mark in the popular latin band, Buki Yamaz. That is more than 40 years ago. But there had been a time before Buki Yamaz: Already at age 15, Mikkel Nordsø stepped up and the famed Copenhagen jazz scene listened, when he joined Riel/Mikkelborg V8, a forerunner of the more famous band, Entrance. So it is a musical life coming full cir- cle, with the trumpet of Palle Mikkelborg on this year’s edition. Next step was Sneakers, the extremely popular bvand, which was formed in 1979 featuring adored singer, Sanne Salomonsen, in which Mikkel met percussion player, Jacob Andersen. Another important band in tho- se years was eclectic Anima, featuring keyboard player Kenneth Knudsen and veteran singer and guitar player, Cy Nicklin, where also drummer Ole Theill was featured, and since was the natural choice, when Mikkel Nordsø formed his own band.Giving birth to this a major inspi- ration was the percussof viewers.
