Gábor Takács-Nagy studied the violin at the Franz Liszt Academy in Buda- pest. From 1975 to 1992 he was a founding member and leader of the acclaimed Takács Quartet. In great demand as a chamber-music teacher, he regularly gives masterclasses at various international academies. In 2001 Gábor Takács-Nagy turned to conducting and since 2007 he has been the music director of the Ver- bier Festival Chamber Orchestra. In 2011 he became music director of the Man- chester Camerata and as of the 2012–13 season he is principal guest conductor of the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
