"Necessity is the mother of invention." - Frank Zappa

Sanne Huysmans: voice, words, music Niels Van Heertum: euphonium, music Seppe Gebruers: piano Benjamin Sauzereau: guitar Hugo Antunes: double bass Lander Gyselinck: drums Mount Meru is a gathering place.   Musicians who wander about in the open water of free improvisation return to one of their old loves: songs.   Because songs are friendly and volatile, but under the sheet of lightness they can bark and bite.   Mount Meru looks at the falling rocks, heroic achievements and at the edges of society. Ascending Mount Meru, you look out on its big brother, the Kilimajaro. Climbing this last is the most glorious, Mount Meru is the most beautiful road.
Sanne has been working on her development as a songwriter for the past years, in different formations. Therefore she's combining her passions for writing, music and international politics.  Niels plays with Ifa y Xango and The Dubtapes and performes regularly with Mâäk’s Spirit, Marble Sounds and Isbells. Seppe is also a member of Ifa y Xango and has a piano duo with Erik Vermeulen (antiduo). He participated in various theater productions, with ‘De Maan’, ‘Tibaldus en andere hoeren’ and ‘Theater Stap’. Benjamin is a French guitarist, he leads the bands ‘Les croniques de l’inutile’, ‘Burno’ and ‘Le chien a trois pattes’, furthermore he is active within ‘Wolke’, ‘The Dubtapes’ and many other bands.
Hugo leads Malus, a trio with trumpet player Nate Wooley and drummer Chris Corsano. With Roll Call, he released his first record on the Portugese Clean Feed label. Lander is known of the Kris Defoort Trio, STUFF and LABtrio. He won the Toots Thielemans Award in 2010 and the Sabam Youth and Music Award 2012. He worke with John Zorn, Ellery Eskelin, Michael Attias and many others.
