"Music is ... A higher revelation than all Wisdom & Philosophy" - Ludwig van Beethoven

Thomas Dausgaard is renowned for his creativity and innovation in programming, his extensive catalogue of critically-acclaimed recordings and the excitement of his live performances. He is chief conductor of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, chief conductor desegnate of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and principal guest conductor of  the Seattle Symphony. He will become music director of this orchestra in 2019.
Dausgaard regularly appears with many of the world’s leading orchestras from Europe, North-America, Asia and Australia, including the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, Wiener Philharmoniker, London Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Festival appearances have included the BBC Proms and the Salzburg Festival.
Dausgaard has made over 50 albums, including cycles of symphonies by Beethoven and Schubert. His series Opening Doors with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra has consistently won praise for performances of 19th-century repertoire more usually associated with symphony orchestras.
His interests beyond music include a fascination with the life and culture of remote communities. He has visited head-hunting tribes in Borneo, volunteered as a farmer in China and stayed with villagers on an island in the South Pacific.
