Thomas Hampson (Elkhart, Indiana) is an American baritone in the classical song and opera repertory. He is considered one of the prominent American baritones of the moment. His repertory consists of many roles, like the lead in Mozart's Don Giovanni, Rossini's Guillaume Tell, Ambroise Thomas' Hamlet, and Tsjaikovski's Jevgeni Onegin; Figaro in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, Germont in Verdi's La traviata and Amfortas in Wagners Parsifal. He received a Grammy Award for his recording of Wagner's Tannhäuser in the category Best Opera Recording.
