Hélène Guilmette

Acclaimed for her luminous voice, refined musicianship, and remarkable stage presence, Quebec soprano Hélène Guilmette has been leading a spectacular international career since she won Second Prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition of Belgium in 2004. Over the years, she has performed in some of the world’s major concert halls and opera houses such as Paris Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Dutch National Opera and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aire and Carnegie Hall in New York. She is renowned for her interpretation of French repertoire and especially Francis Poulenc’s music. She has sung La Voix humaine with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, his Stabat Mater with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and his Gloria with the Orchestre National de France at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the roles of soeur Constance and Blanche de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) in Munich, Bologna, Toronto, Nice, and Lyon and the role of Thérèse (Mamelles de Tirésias) at the Opéra Comique in Paris, in Lyon and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Center in London; she also did many recitals and have recorded his songs. She has collaborated with some of the greatest conductors : Emmanuelle Haïm, Bernard Labadie, Kent Nagano, Michel Plasson, François-Xavier Roth, Christophe Rousset, Masaaki Suzuki, Marcello Viotti and stage directors: Robert Carsen, Mariame Clément, Christophe Honoré, Benoît Jacquot, Moshe Leiser, and Patrice Caurier, Macha Makeïeff, Laurent Pelly, Jean-François Sivadier, and Dmitri Tcherniakov.
