Jelle Draijer

Jelle Draijer commenced studies in English and history before deciding to pursue a career in music. After his first lessons with his aunt Heleen Draijer he studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Erna Spoorenberg and Ruud van der Meer. In 1977 Jelle Draijer joined the Netherlands Chamber Choir. He has worked with conductors including Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman, Reinbert de Leeuw, Jos van Immerseel and René Jacobs, and with ensembles such as Il Fondamento, the Netherlands Bach Society and the Gesualdo Consort. He made CD recordings of Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century under Frans Brüggen, and he recently collaborated with the Gesualdo Consort in a recording of the complete vocal works of Sweelinck.
