Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne

The Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (OCL) Artistic Director: Christian Zacharias Founded by Victor Desarzens in 1942, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne has gained renown far beyond its home city. This orchestral formation of the »Mannheim type« annually presents approximately one hundred concerts under its artistic director Christian Zacharias. The orchestra is at home in the Salle Métropole in Lausanne and regularly guests in Switzerland’s major concert halls, in particular on the occasion of the annual tour organized and produced by the West Swiss Radio RSR-Espace 2, which has been a privileged partner of the orchestra ever since its founding. The OCL frequently performs as a guest at foreign venues such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Musikverein in Vienna, and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and appears at festivals such as Les Folles Journées of Nantes and Tokyo, BBC Proms in London, and Edinburgh Festival. As a partner of the Lausanne Opera, it is heard several times per season in the same house’s orchestra pit. The OCL is funded by the City of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud and belongs to the Verband Schweizerischer Berufsorchester (VESBO, Society of Swiss Professional Orchestras). Most of its concerts are recorded by RSR-Espace 2 and are available for listening on the website www.espace2.ch. www.ocl.ch
