Susanne Zapf, born in Thüringen, studied violin with Ilan Gronich in Berlin, Grigory Zhislin in London, and Keiko Wataya in Amsterdam.

She has a broad range of experience as an orchestral and chamber music performer, and as a member of the Sonar Quartet. Zapf is interested in classical and Baroque music, as well as in improvisation, multimedia projects, and New Music. She is a member of the Kammerakademie Potsdam, and has premiered numerous solo and chamber music works at festivals in Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, England, Austria, Greece, Spain, Korea, and the Czech Republic.

Susanne Zapf won the Kranichstein Music Prize in 2002. Numerous CDs document her work as a soloist and chamber musician.
