"Music: Breath of the statues. Perhaps: Silence of images. Your language where languages end" - Rainer Maria Rilke

Nurit Stark

The Israeli-born violinist Nurit Stark studied with Ilan Gronich and with the Alban Berg Quartet. She was a prizewinner at the Enescu Competition in Bucharest and the Leopold Mozart Competition in Augsburg. She has made guest appearances at festivals including Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Locken- haus Chamber Music Festival, Rheingau Music Festival, Donaueschinger Musiktage and Pacific Music Festival in Japan, and has given concerts in the most important halls in Europe, the USA, Japan and Israel, such as the Carnegie Hall in New York, Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna Konzerthaus, Salzburg Mozarteum and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. Her passion for contemporary music has resulted in world premières and to collaboration with composers such as Viktor Suslin, Sofia Gubaidulina, Valentin Silvestrov and Georg Nussbaumer. In addition she has a keen interest in avant-garde stage projects that combine elements of music and theatre, appearing for example at the Volksbühne Berlin and the Burgtheater in Vienna. She enjoys a long-standing chamber music partnership with the pianist Cédric Pescia, and as a duo they are supported by the Forberg-Schneider Founda- tion. She has also received support from the Ernst von Siemens Foundation for Music. Nurit Stark plays a violin made in 1710 by Petrus Guarnerius di Mantua.
