Marcin Świątkiewicz

Marcin Świątkiewicz is among the foremost Polish harpsichordists of the younger genera- tion, appreciated equally in solo and chamber music repertoire and known for his inventive basso continuo realizations. A versatile musician, his interest is directed towards historical keyboard instruments, improvisation and composition. In performance he specializes in the harpsichord, clavichord, historical pianos and the organ.
As a soloist, chamber musician and director, Marcin Świątkiewicz appears in concert halls in Europe, both the Americas and Asia, collaborating with Rachel Podger and Brecon Baroque, Divino Sospiro (Enrico Onofri), Capella Cracoviensis, Arte dei Suonatori, {OH!} Orkiestra Historyczna and the Scroll Ensemble. He has participated in major festivals such as the Händel-Festspiele Göttingen, Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, Wratislavia Cantans, BBC Baroque Spring and the Bach Unwrapped series at Kings Place in London. Making his début solo concerto disc on BIS, he has participated in recordings on several other labels and has appeared in broadcasts from major European radio and TV stations.
Marcin Świątkiewicz was a finalist in the 2010 International Volkonsky Harpsichord Competition in Moscow and the 2007 International Telemann Competition in Magdeburg. He is the recipient of various awards and scholarships, including the Polish Ministry of Culture Scholarship ‘Młoda Polska’, the Dutch Huygens Scholarship, and awards from the Silesian Voivodeship and the City of Katowice.
Marcin Świątkiewicz obtained his Master degree from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, The Netherlands, where he studied both harpsichord and composition. He also holds a PhD from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where he currently teaches.
