Anna Caterina Antonacci

Established as one of the finest sopranos of her generation, Anna Caterina Antonacci has been honoured with the ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’honneur’ by the French Republic, which is the highest national distinction one can receive.
Career highlights have included Carmen (Opéra Comique, Paris, Royal Opera House, London), Cassandra in Les Troyens (Théâtre du Châtelet, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House), Medea (Théâtre du Châtelet, Epidaurus Festival, Greece, Teatro Regio, Turin), Pénélope (Opéra national du Rhin), Marco Tutino’s La Ciociara, commissioned for her (San Francisco Opera), Iphigénie en Tauride (Hamburgische Staatsoper, Opéra national du Rhin, Grand Théâtre de Genève), La Voix humaine (Opéra Comique, San Francisco Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna) and Hindemith’s Sancta Susanna (Opéra national de Paris).  Her portrayal of roles within L’incoronazione di Poppea inspired Era la notte, a one-woman show around Monteverdi’s Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda
