Bert Van Den Brink Wins Vpro/boy Edgar Prize 2007
The winner of the ‘VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize 2007 is pianist, composer, arranger and producer Bert van den Brink. It is the most important prize for Jazz and improvised music. Bert van den Brink will receive a sculpture made by Jan Wolkers and the sum of € 12.500,-
The prize will be presented on Wednesday April 11th during a festive program in the ‘Bimhuis’, Amsterdam. A national tour by Bert van den Brink will follow Later this year.
On Sunday January 14th, around 10.30h, he will be a guest on the TV-show of ‘Vrije Geluiden’ on Dutch television (Nederland 1). The TV-show starts at 10.30h.
According to the report of the jury: “his work sounds completely original and his way of playing is immediately recognizable, which is something only the great jazz musicians can realise.”
