About the album
They may be damn young, but they play with a sophistication, intensity and impressive tightness and that’ll take your breath away! Original compositions!
"Blue Breakfast" joins together the pianist and composer Max Mäckel, bassist Judith Krischke and drummer Karl Degenhardt. With a combined age of only 60, an age at which some jazz musicians are just leaving their most successful years, and after just 2 years of playing together, they can be proud of their two awards (2009: Kassel Art Award from the Dr. Wolfgang Zippel Foundation in the Field of Music - 2010: JazzPrix Newcomer Contest in Straubing) and confidently stride together towards an international career!
Their debut album "Platform" is an important step on the way. Stylistic openness, musical virtuosity, spontaneous improvisation and extraordinary enthusiasm are part of the trio’s characteristic style. The maturity and assured interplay on this album makes its description as a "debut" sound absurd!
