About the album

Mauro Negri is one of the best European clarinet and alto sax player. In this record is showing his maturity as musician and composer. The Mauro Negri quartet played more then two years around Europe before recording this extraordinary musical project. The musicians of the quartet representing some of the best of Italian jazz scene .A “liquid sound”remembering and recalling atmospheres of “Mantova “, the small town where Mauro Negri is living. The musical language is modern and unbeatable. Mauro Negri explains his thoughts by liner notes of the album : “I have spent many hours thinking, rejoicing and suffering in front of liquid places of Mantova, my city.A small jewel surrounded almost completely by water that actually was once a marsh. Mantova is a very liquid place. I was born in the middle of these liquid places. I see them and i live them every day. They are a constant inspiration, communicating at the same time peace and relax, force and energy. The sound generated by water are unpredictable and various. The sound itself spreads in the water while being modified and cradled whit sweetness according to the movement.Once in the water we immediately enter into another world of sounds where the clear ones of the surface disappear while the muffled ones of immersion appear. Water, like music is communication, is regenerating, is dynamic and can transmit peace or frenzy “
