About the album

Very few people can still, today, claim to have followed the meteoric
career of this exceptional musician, who died at the age of 43.
Yet, sixty years after his death, many jazz guitarists still claim the
legacy of genius, they have operated in one way or another. (Toots
Thielemans, Philip Catherine, ... and many others!).
Imported from the United States, there were among jazz musicians
a kind of friendly competition that often organized an impromptu:
it was to improvise as long as possible on an agreed theme,
waiting to take us to turn a chorus in a rotating endless. After three or
four chorus, musicians inspired less abandoned, and only continued
those who still had in reserve "ideas" that had not yet been set. Numerous
testimonies Django participated in this kind of "competition",
the latter being always smooth, clearly showing his creative inspiration
was an inexhaustible fertility.
In Paris, since the end of World War I, American musicians regularly
land, mostly black, because in France, racial segregation does
not exist. Django quickly frequent all the places where they occur and
exceptional powers of listening, adaptation and memory are instant
miracles. Everyone wants to play and record with him every stay!
(Theater, music, painting, poetry, literature ...) is a prime example.
Jean Cocteau, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Erik Satie and many
musicians and composers to come "are not slumming" listening (or
even practicing) jazz that there was to know.
The Gypsy Swing Quintet Liege was formed in 2009 at the
initiative of Jean-Pierre Boullet musician who performed professionally
Baroque music on period instruments for 40 years and whose
passion for the music of Django Reinhardt anime forever.
Professional musicians are friends-this layer training its staff on
the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, in order to restore his repertoire
as closely as possible, while giving it a personal touch.
One specific Gypsy Swing Quintet Liege also lies in the fact that it
offers to each concert to publicize various guitarists French soloists,
virtuoso level.
