About the album

A musical encounter between Norway and Lebanon

The splendour of Norwegian mountains meets the warmth of the Mediterranean sea. Tiar consists of Lars Lien (saxophones), Åsmund Reistad (double bass) and Geko Fattal (oud). The musicians have different musical backgrounds, where elements from Norwegian and Lebanese traditional music, contemporary music and jazz are mixed together. The result is a truly unique musical experience. The expression is playful and improvised, ranging from the rhythmical and pulsing to the intimate and lyrical. Most of the music are written by the Tiar members themselves, with the addition of some traditional Norwegian and Middle Eastern pieces. The trio have played together since 2007, and this is their debut album.
