About the album

Ilja Reijngoud - trombone | Tom Beek - tenor saxophone |
Mark Haanstra - bass | Chander Sardjoe - drums Essential in the musical concept, based on collective improvisation, is the use of “calls”: small motives through which, upfront discussed theme’s, compositions or sections are started and connected. This organic and ‘open’ way of playing is unique and demands great skills and ability to react to each other’s initiatives. The developed so called “conversations” offer an extraordinarily interesting and highly dynamic performance. The incredible synergy between the members of the quartet results in highly recommendable music. Nemesis performs mainly original compositions.

As a result of this striking success Nemesis was invited to appear at the North Sea Jazz Festival and to perform several live-broadcasts for public radio. In a short time they were one of the most exciting groups on the national scene.New York based saxophonist/composer/bandleader Steve Coleman became aware of their music through internet and workshops and invited drummer Chander Sardjoe to join his projects...
