About the album

Born in Seoul, Korea, Ms. Shin-Young Lee began her musical studies on the piano at the age of four and on the organ at the age of seventeen. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from Yonsei University, Seoul, under the direction of Dr. Tong-Soon Kwak. In France, Ms. Lee continued her studies at the Schola Cantorum of Paris with Jean-Paul Imbert. She was awarded the first “Prix de Virtuosité” in 2002, and the first “Diplôme de concert à l’unanimité avec felicitations du jury” in 2003. In September of the same year, Lee entered the organ class at the Paris Conservatoire National Superieur Musique, and received the Diplôme de Formation Supérieure in 2007 with Michel Bouvard and Olivier Latry. She then attended the post-graduate class until June 2009. While studying organ at the Conservatoire de Paris, she
also attended classes in analysis, keyboard harmony, harmony and fugue, basso continuo with Thierry Maeder and Pierre Caez, harpsichord with Francoise Marmin, and improvisation with Thierry Escaich, Jean-François Zygel and Philippe Lefebvre. In addition to her formal studies, she has attended masterclasses with Jean Guillou, Michael Radulescu, Wolfgang Zerer, André Isoir, Louis Robillard, Bernard Foccroulle, Michel Chapuis, and Jean Boyer.
Lee won the first prize at the Organ Competition of St. François de Sales of Lyon (2007) and she was laureate of the 2nd
International Jordan International Organ Competition in Columbus, USA (2009). Ms. Lee has presented solo recitals throughout France (International Organ Festivals of the Cathedral in Laon, St. Eustache in Paris, Cathedral of Sens, Notre-Dame de Paris, La Madeleine, Versailles, Poitiers, Bordeaux, etc.) as well as in Europe (Spain, Italia,
Slovenia, United-Kingdom, Luxembourg, Holland, Germany, Poland, Denmark) and in Russia, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and in the USA. She was professor of organ at the academy of Talence (France) in 2008 and 2009.
