Julie Boulianne

French-Canadian mezzo-soprano Julie Boulianne is a graduate of the Julliard School in New York City and of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. Known for the agility and expressive power of her dark-hued voice in a wide repertoire, she has a special affinity for the music of Mozart, Rossini, Massenet, and Berlioz. She has performed operas and concerts with the Metropolitan Opera in New York; at the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall in London; at the Opéra de Paris and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées; at Carnegie Hall; at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam; at the festivals of Aix-en-Provence, San Sebastian, and Matsumoto; and with conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Mark Elder, Placido Domingo, Emmanuel Villaume, and Alain Altinoglu. She has twice been awarded Opus Prizes by the Conseil Québécois de la Musique— the 2014 prize for rayonnement à l’étranger (overseas influence), and the 2017 prize for performer of the year. As well, she has been nominated for Grammy Awards, International Classical Music Awards, ADISQ, and Juno Awards.
