Liesbeth Devos

Belgian singer Liesbeth Devos has established herself as a stylistically highly versatile soprano. At first trained as an oboist, she later studied singing at the Antwerp Conservatory with Stephanie Friede.
  Liesbeth Devos has made regular appearances in all three Belgian Opera Houses. Just after she graduated from the conservatory, La Monnaie/De Munt (Brussels) offered her the role of Despina (Così fan tutte), and directly afterwards, engagements as Ilse (Frühlingserwachen) and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte). At the Flemish Opera she sang Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia), First Niece (Peter Grimes) and the leading role of Helena (Rage of Life). At the Opéra de Wallonie she sang Xunchia (L’inimico delle donne), Marie (Guillaume Tell) and Elvira (L’italiana in Algeri). She performed both the Lace Seller and the Strolling Player (Death in Venice) in La Fenice and Danica (Svadba) at the San Francisco Opera.
  In concert, Liesbeth Devos has sung solo parts with many symphonic orchestras such as the Amsterdam Sinfonietta , Les Arts Florissants, the Antwerp Symphonic Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen and the Slovenian Philharmonic. She has worked with eminent conductors such as William Christie, Richard Egarr, Ivo Venkov, Dirk Vermeulen and Leif Segerstam. Her interpretation of Pergolesi’s Salve Regina in the USA has been acclaimed by the American reviewers.
  Her passion for the lied and poetry makes Devos highly demanded for chamber music. She sang Schönberg's 2nd String Quartet with the Taurus Quartet and various different programs with amongst others Het Collectief, Malibran Quartet and Simoens trio. With pianists Jozef De Beenhouwer, Lucas Blondeel and Francisco Poyato she has sung in the most prestigious lied festivals all over the world.
  Her albums recordings include De Boeck Songs, Bram Van Camp’s The Feasts of Fear and Agony and Liebesfrühling.
  Liesbeth Devos has been coached by Patricia McCaffrey, Stephanie Friede, Lieve Suys, Lucienne Van Deyck, Susanna Eken, Guy Joosten and José Van Dam.
