"Without music, life would be a mistake." - Friedrich Nietzsche

Antonio Figueroa

Born in Montreal, Antonio Figueroa started his career when joining the lyrical Academy of Montreal Opera. He has been rewarded several times, notably by the International Vocal Art Institute when he was granted the Silverman Price for his interpretation of Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). His highly acclaimed first appearance in the part of Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de perles) at Avignon Opera paved his way for European theatres, he has indeed been invited to sing on prestigious stages such as Opéra Comique, Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, in Liège, Lausanne, at the Theater an der Wien... while concurrently developing his career across the Atlantic: Pacific Opera, the operas of Québec, Montréal, Ottawa... His large repertoire extends from baroque music (Messiah by Handel, Magnificat and St. John Passion by Bach, Castor et Pollux, Armide) to contemporary creations (The Tempest by Thomas Adès), with a pronounced taste for Mozart (Mitridate, Così fan Tutte, Die Zauberflöte, Die Entführung aus dem Serail ...), french opera of the 19th century (Hamlet, Lakmé, Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Les Mousquetaires au couvent...), or bel canto (Il Barbiere di Siviglia, L’Elisir d’amore, La Fille du régiment, Don Pasquale...).
