With pleasure we present to you the new duo-album of Bram Stadhouders and Aart Strootman ‘Monasteria' and the presentation concert in Paradox in Tilburg! The year 2015 is still very young, but we think that with this CD on the label BUZZ we have a true treasure in our hands.
Stadhouders & Strootman is a coming together of one of the most promising improvisors/guitarists of the Netherlands, Bram Stadhouders, and contemporary music pioneer Aart Strootman.
Both musicians have a curiosity to each others music. Stadhouders has developed himself as a experimental jazz guitarist and Strootman investigated the newest notes and sounds on the classical guitar. Years later they both decided to leave the safe haven of their genre. They endlessly improvised, composed and shared thoughts and music together and now they have grown to an unsurpassed duo.
The music is somewhere between improvisation, minimal music and composed classical guitar music (which is by the way never written out!). Everything happens in the moment, interaction is the key.
On a very sunny day last year Stadhouders & Strootman came together in the south of the Netherlands in a desolated monastery to record their first duo album ‘Monasteria’. They were surrounded by birds, silence and religious history and this is the result! When you hear the music on the album it feels like a warm and soothing bath. Music on two guitars can sound like this when it is performed by two guitarists of this calibre!
The CD is available from February 1st via our website! For a teaser/preview of the music, go here!
We hope you are able to come and see this duo play live the coming week:
