Our Edison 2018 winners!

The winners of Edison Classical 2018 are announced! These prestigious prizes go to albums of a special quality. This Sunday, November 11, some of the Edisons will be handed out during the live broadcast of Podium Witteman on NPO2. We proudly present the winners of our distribution labels:

The Debut
Laura van der Heijden (Prokofiev/Shaporin e.a. – Russian works for cello and piano) – New Arts International, Champs Hill Records
Jury: "It is not often that a 21-year-old music student is awarded with a classical Edison Award, but we could not ignore the cellist Laura van der Heijden."

The document
Asko I Schönberg & Netherlands Radio Choir o.l.v. Reinbert de Leeuw (Kurtág – Complete Works for Ensemble and Choir) – New Arts International, ECM
Jury: "De Leeuw's minutical work and ensemble in close collaboration with the composer resulted in this document, which does excellent justice to the composer's intentions."

The discovery
Emil Gilels (Beethoven, Brahms e.a. - The Unreleased Recitals at The Concertgebouw) – New Arts International, Fondamenta
Jury: "The Russian was in charge of any technical and musical challenge, but did not feel the need to show off, leaving his ego behind in the dressing room, to make the notes speak for themselves."

Jury members
The jury consists of Maartje Stokkers, Guido van Oorschot, Tonko Dop, Marian van der Meer, Wim Vos and Mischa Spel.
