Founded in 2003, the Devich Trio, as the main composer, is multiculti in micro-format: Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) had Italian roots. Born in Argentina, he emigrated to New York as a toddler and returned to Argentina when he was a teenager. Sarah was born in Johannesburg and studied violin in places such as London, New York and Amsterdam. Now, in addition to being a member of the Devich Trio, she is chief second violinist in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders. Hanna is from Budapest, where she took her conservatory degree as a soloist cum laude. She has lived in the Netherlands since 1997, but her soul is Hungarian.
But Jasper - born and raised in the Netherlands and a member of the The Hague Philharmonic Orchestra - can find himself in this music with equal aplomb. “It is much less refined than classical music. There is more room for the performer’s ego.”
