Luciano Pavarotti

Luciano Pavarotti was ondoubtedly one of the greatest tenors of the second half of the twentieth century. He was one of the so-called Three Tenors, besides Plácido Domingo and José Carreras. Gifted with a great musicalty and feeling for show, he was praised above all for his brilliant voice. The ease with which he could reach the high c earned him the nickname "King of the high c's". The singer grew into an icon, no tenor after the Second World War bridged the gap between populair and classical so succesfully. Pavarotti died on 6 September 2007. He became 71 years old.
