I Solisti del Vento

Explores the rich repertoire for wind ensemble from Mozart till today 250 years of |r|evolution for wind players I Solisti del Vento is Belgium’s most important wind ensemble, guaranteeing an interpretation characterized by quality, exploration, distribution and valorisation of the great repertoire for wind ensemble from Mozart till today. The productions stand out by virtue of their exciting and healthy sense of adventure in style, genre and presentation. Under the enthusing leadership of Francis Pollet the ensemble grew in the past 25 years into a formation that is in a position to match the international top in the field of (chamber)music for wind ensemble. Since 1999 I Solisti del Vento has been in residence at the Royal Flemish Conservatoire Antwerp, housed on the premises of the International Arts Campus deSingel.
I Solisti del Vento is conspicuously visible on about every single important stage in Belgium, taking care of numerous creations and recordings to boot. I Solisti del Vento is also very active beyond the Belgian borders. Its international curriculum can boast productions in the Netherlands, Luxemburg, France, Germany, Italy, Scotland, Finland, Norway, Brazil and New York.
In the recent past the ensemble performed under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe, Lucas Vis, Paul Hillier, Etienne Siebens, Bo Holten, Ivan Meylemans and Hervé Niquet. Regularly I Solisti del Vento engages in a dialogue with renowned soloists, ensembles or choirs such as violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, soprano Claron McFadden, pianists Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Michel Béroff and Jan Michiels, Collegium Vocale Gent, Quatuor Danel, the Spiegel String Quartet, the Doric String Quartet, the New Ensemble, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, B’Rock and the Flemish Radio Choir.
In addition to this core business, the ensemble accepts the challenge of exciting confrontations with other disciplines of the arts. In the first place with a view to promoting the value of wind music to ever widening horizons. In the second place because the ensemble believes in the continuously developing creativity and the inspiring artistic tension resulting from such encounters, both for performer and for listener. I Solisti collaborated with Bart Moeyaert, Josse De Pauw, Roger Raveel, Theater Taptoe, Theater Stap, Muziektheater Transparant, Jeroen Brouwers, Warre Borgmans, Natali Broods and Stefan Hertmans.
Also due to the structural support of the Flemish Community I Solisti del Vento has evolved into a leading wind ensemble, energizing Flemish music life as an innovatory factor.
