"Where words leave off, music begins." - Heinrich Heine

Hartmut Schill

Hartmut Schill was born into a family of musicians in Leipzig. He began playing violin at the age of 5, and studied at the Special Music School in Berlin, the “Hanns Eisler” conservatory. He continued his advanced studies later at the same conservatory, studying violin, chamber music, and counterpoint. Since then, his special affection for chamber music remains strong, in particular quartet playing. Since 1997, he has held the position of concertmaster of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic and the first violinist of the Robert Schumann Quartet. He has been a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra since 1999. Hartmut Schill is a prizewinner in several international competitions as a chamber musician and a soloist.
