Michael Riessler

We just briefly describe the music career of the clarinetist and composer Riessler, which leaves no doubt about his talent: Composer and musician of the French "Orchestre National de Jazz", member of the "Kölner Saxophon Mafia", recordings and tours with Chris Newman & Janet Smith, concerts in The Kitchen and the Knitting Factory (both New York) and at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Den Haag, solo tours with a Karlheinz Stockhausen program (among other places, in Russia, collaboration with (this is really only a very small selection) David Byrne, Carla Bley, Michel Portal, Eberhard Weber, Henri Texier, Renaud Garcia Fons, Steve Reich, John Cage, Otto Sander, Michel Godard, Tomasz Stanko and Michael Gibbs. And he has had an intimate music friendship with Zappa drummer Terry Bozzio for more than 10 years, who also lets his drumsticks whirl on the track "Hemis.
In addition to his work as professor at Munich Music and Theater College, artistic director of "scuola sperimentale di cinema" in Rome, for the  Laboratorium Improvisation/Composition for Film, 2011 awarded a grant at "Villa Massimo Rome", Composer in Residence at the Louisiana Museum of Copenhagen and as head of the jazz and improvisation courses in Orleans, Toronto, Montreal, Tokyo, Chapel Hill (North Carolina), among others, and various courses in Darmstadt for jazz and improvisation, Riessler always finds time to try out new things and release then as recordings. His discography includes more than 30 albums, including daredevil jazz recordings, radio plays, modern classical music and film music.
