Hana Blažíková

Hana (soprano) was born in Prague. As a child, she sang in the Radost Praha choir and played violin, later turning to solo singing. In 2002, she graduated from the Prague Conservatory in the class of Jirˇi Kotoucˇ, before continuing her studies with Poppy Holden, Peter Kooij, Monika Mauch and Howard Crook. She specialises in early music, performing with ensembles and orchestras around the world, including Collegium Vocale Gent, Bach Collegium Japan, Sette Voci, Gli Angeli Gen ̄ve, La Fenice, Tafelmusik, Collegium 1704, Collegium Marianum and Musica Florea. She has performed in many international festivals, including the Prague Spring, Oude Muziek Utrecht, Resonanzen (Vienna), Tage Alter Musik (Regensburg), Festival de Sablé, Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, Festival de Saintes and Hong Kong Arts Festival. In 2010, she took part in a highly acclaimed tour with Collegium Vocale Gent and Philippe Herreweghe, singing in Bach’s St Matthew Passion. That same year, she also made her debut at the Carnegie Hall with Masaaki Suzuki’s Bach Collegium Japan. During Easter 2011, she sang the soprano part in Bach’s St John Passion with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Hana Blazˇíková appears on more than 20 CDs, including an acclaimed series of Bach cantatas with Bach Collegium Japan. She also plays and accompanies herself on the Gothic harp. She is a member of the Tiburtina Ensemble, specialising in the performance of Gregorian plainchant and early mediaeval polyphony. She previously performed in the ‘Chopin and his Europe’ festival in 2012 and 2014.
