Dale Duesing

The American baritone DALE DUESING (Fox) studied piano and singing at the Lawrence University in Wisconsin. He has guested with the Metropolitan Opera New York, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera Chicago, La Scala Milan, Opéra National de Paris, ROH Covent Garden and Bayerische Staatsoper München, and at the festivals of Edinburgh, Glyndebourne, Aix-en-Provence and Salzburg. He received a Grammy Award for The Lovers with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and was voted singer of the year by Opernwelt for his performance of the title role in Wozzeck. He made his debut as a director with Il viaggio a Reims (Oper Frankfurt, best production and director of the year in Opernwelt), and has also directed Medea (Nederlandse Reisopera) and The Rape of Lucretia (Oper Frankfurt). He has sung Alberich in Götterdämmerung (Aix-en-Provence, Salzburg), the world premiere of Weltethos with the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, Moses in Moses und Aron (Ruhrtriennale) and Buddha in Wagner Dream (DNO and Welsh National Opera), and directed Chabrier’s L’étoile (Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin with Sir Simon Rattle). With Dutch National Opera, he has sung Capriccio, Life with an Idiot, Symposion, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, De zaak Makropulos and Het Sluwe Vosje.
