Hendrickje Van Kerckhove

The soprano Hendrickje Van Kerckhove (Norma Jeane) studied at the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp, was a member of the Operastudio Vlaanderen and the Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth. She made her debut with the Bayerische Staatsoper München in the title role of Medusa and returned there to perform Oscar in Un ballo in maschera and Voce dal cielo in Don Carlo. Her repertoire includes Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Barcelona, Brussels, Tel Aviv), Kristin in Philippe Boesmans’ Julie, Ernestine in Monsieur Choufleuri, Sophie in Werther, Blumenmädchen in Parsifal (Brussels), Soeur Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites, Maja in Kalitzke’s Die Besessenen, Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos (Theater an der Wien), Valencienne in Die lustige Witwe, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Woglinde in Der Ring des Nibelungen, Lisa in La sonnambula, Despina in Guy Joosten’s production of Così fan tutte (Vlaamse Opera) and Ophélie in Hamlet (Strasbourg). The European Concert Hall Organization voted her Rising Star in 2008. She has also sung Dircé in Médée (Brussels), Adele in Die Fledermaus (Strasbourg) and Soprano 2 in Al gran sole carico d’amore (Staatsoper unter den Linden).
