François Dompierre

François Dompierre began his career collaborating with Félix Leclerc and several other Québécois artists. In 1975 his eponymous disc became a popular success. He has also written the music for some 50 films.
He wrote the music for the musical comedy Demain matin Montréal m’attend, with lyrics by Michel Tremblay. His concert works include: Les Diableries; Concerto de Saint-Irénée; Les Glorieux, a commission from the MSO; and 24 Préludes pour piano. In 2015 he composed Par quatre chemins for the New Orford String Quartet. In 2016, the Appassionata chamber orchestra and pianist Louise Bessette premiered his Concertango Grosso.
In 2014, François Dompierre was named a Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec and a Member of the Order of Canada. He was awarded the Prix Hommage 2016 by Cinéma Québec.
