Monique Richard

Monique Richard currently serves as Department Head in the Faculty of Music at the Université de Moncton, and as a professor of music education. Her passion for conducting is evident in her role as conductor of several notable New Brunswick choirs. These include the Department of Music mass choir and two community ensembles: the Choeur Louisbourg which specializes in early music, and Chorale Beauséjour, the celebrated women’s chorus. She has collaborated with Symphony New Brunswick in preparing the singers for choral and orchestral works. She also conducted le Choeur

de la Mission Saint-Charles during the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival in July 2013. Trained as a pianist and music educator and  coming from a long choral tradition, Monique went on to complete a Master`s Degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Illinois in 1994, and obtained her doctorate in education in 2012 at the Université de Moncton. Her vitality and enthusiasm for music has led to invitations to adjudicate several music festivals in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Quebec, and to give choral workshops throughout Canada and in France.
