Yuval Weinberg

Yuval Weinberg (b. 1990) was the conductor of NOVA Chamber Choir from 2015 to March 2018. He began his musical career at a young age as a singer and conductor of the Li-Ron Children’s Choir in his home country Israel. He studied orchestral conducting at Tel-Aviv University followed by choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ Berlin and the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He has studied with Jörg-Peter Weigle and Grete Pedersen. Weinberg has received a number of awards for his conducting, most recently the Best Conductor Award at the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf 2017. In 2015 he was awarded the Gary Bertini Prize for Choral Conductors, and he won first prize at the International Choir Conducting Competition in Wroclaw in 2014. Weinberg is regularly invited to conduct professional ensembles such as the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir, the SWR Vocal Ensemble and the Bavarian Radio Choir. As a part of his work with young singers, he has been the conductor of the Norwegian National Youth Choir, and as of 2019 he will be conducting the EuroChoir. He regularly leads conducting courses for young musicians in Israel and workshops at international festivals.
