Mari Askvik

Mari Askvik (b. 1988) is in much demand, both as a soloist and as an ensemble singer. She holds a position with the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir and with the early music ensemble “Christian IV’s Vokalensemble” in Copenhagen, Denmark. She holds a master’s degree in opera from the Academy of Opera in Oslo, and a bachelor’s degree in classical singing from the Academy of Opera, the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Grieg Academy in Bergen, studying with Svein Bjørkøy, Randi Stene and Turid Karlsen. She has a number of major opera roles in her repertoire, among them Lola (“Cavalleria Rusticana”), 2nd Witch (“Dido and Aeneas”), 2nd Lady (“The Magic Flute”), Mercédès (“Carmen”) and Alice (“Lucia di Lammermoor”), as well as parts in contemporary works such as “Icarus” by Evelin Seppar, “Schnitzler’s Dreams – an installative opera” by Marieke Dobewall, and “Ad Undas – Solaris Korrigert” by Øyvind Mæland.
