About the album

The Jazz Impuls Foundation was founded with the purpose of supporting those musicians in the field who deserve greater recognition. The Foundation’s selection involves a careful assessment of the qualities of the candidates and their potential for future success. Anne Chris is one of the beneficiaries of the Foundation’s support and this CD provides a clear justification for her selection. A first listening of her compositions will confirm an exceptional talent and provide an exquisite experience for any music lover. This is her debut CD, recorded in March and in October 2004 presented in het Bimhuis in Amsterdam. Although this is her first album, six of the twelve compositions are written by Anne herself and these reflect a remarkable maturity. Her songs demonstrate exceptional variety and lyrical quality, which allow her to showcase her beautiful clear voice. Pop and jazz standards in original arrangements provide a perfect complement to her own songs. On this album, Anne Chris is supported by highly professional musicians who bring their superb abilities to the project. With this CD we can be sure that this talented lady will achieve the wider recognition she deserves. The CD was received very well by press and public.

In March 2004 Anne Chris recorded her debut CD, entitled 'Tomorrow is today', which was released by the Jazz Impuls Foundation. On this cd she sang different styles; in addition to jazz standards, she also recorded a Brazilian song and her own compositions.
In 2005 Anne Chris reached the final of the Jazzvocalistenconcours in Zwolle (NL) and performed again at the North Sea Jazz Festival. That same year she toured in Marocco, together with guitarplayer Jan Wouter Oostenrijk, who is specialized in ‘Maghreb Jazz’ (mixture between jazz and eastern-music).
