About the album

Bert van den Brink - piano | Rick Margitza - tenor saxophone | Hein Van de Geyn - bass | Hans van Oosterhout - drums

This CD captures the musical coorperation of Bert van den Brink and Rick Margitza. The ten compositions that adorn this CD show how beautifully the piano of Bert van den Brink and the tenor saxophone of Rick Margitza go together. Bert van den Brink plays with an intensity one must hear to believe and with a musicality that can almost be touched now and then. He is gifted with an extremely pure developed technique and a most exceptional touch that raises every note to a happening. His playing knows no faults and matches perfectly the improvisations of the tenor player which show an inexhaustible fund of inspiration. Margitza’s subtely is especially to be noticed on the ballads and his melodious, deserve special mention. The medium tempo pieces also contain moments of intense beauty and underline that Rick Margitza’s light romantic and yet robust style seems to be created to match the inventive playing of Bert van den Brink. Piano and tenor saxophone move easily against the swinging rhythm set by the brilliant bass playing of Hein Van De Geyn and the solid drumming of Hans van Oosterhout.
