About the album

Founded in 2015 by pianist François Lindemann, this music ensemble can be described as an « ethno-jazz group » regarding the instruments used here. Piano, drums, tabla, oud, and a rare combination of 2 double basses. All pieces are composed by François especially for this unique instrumentation.

The 6 musicians are coming from different parts of the world: France, Tunisia, Switzerland and India.
All of them have a big experience in improvisation and musical interaction and great skills on their respective instruments. These musicians used to travel and play all over the world since many years.

The band NU BASS - ensemble played since 2015 in numerous halls and jazz venues like Montreux jazz Festival 2016.

Das François Lindemann NU-BASS 6tet wurde im Jahr 2015 vom Pianisten François Lindemann gegründet. Man kann man dieses Musikensemble als "Ethno-Jazz-Gruppe" durch die verwendeten Instrumente bezeichnen: Klavier, Schlagzeug, Tabla, Oud und eine seltene Kombination aus 2 Kontrabässen. Alle Lieder wurden von François speziell für diese einzigartige Besetzung komponiert.
Die 6 Musiker kommen aus verschiedenen Teilen der Welt: Frankreich, Tunesien, Schweiz (deutscher und französischer Teil) und Indien.
Sie alle haben eine große Erfahrung in Improvisation und musikalischer Interaktion und verfügen über große Fähigkeiten auf ihren jeweiligen Instrumenten. Seit vielen Jahren reisen und spielen diese Musiker in der ganzen Welt.
Die Band NU BASS spielte seit 2015 in zahlreichen Hallen und Jazzlokalen wie dem Montreux Jazz Festival 2016. Ein Album vom François Lindemann NU BASS 6tet wurde im August 2017 aufgenommen und erscheint nun bei TCB auf Vinyl bei TCB.

François Lindemann’s career as a musician has spanned more than 25 years and the entire globe. After studying at Lausanne’s Conservatory, he took his musical training into his own hands, discovering jazz through Clifford Brown and Coltrane’s quartet in the 1960s. He had put together his own orchestra and was composing original music by 1969. Closely affiliated with the period’s “free” movement, he honed his craft in local clubs before forming the group CM4 in 1974. He toured in Europe and the States in the eighties and nineties, playing with such famous musicians as Carla Bley, Robin Eubanks, Curtis Fuller and Woody Shaw. In 1986 he founded an ensemble entitled Piano Seven, made up of seven Steinways, bringing in top-notch...
