Jazz guitarist Barry Greene is known for his swinging time feel, rich tone, and deeply melodic approach to improvisation. His playing reflects a lifelong immersion in the jazz tradition, combining technical command with warmth, lyricism, and musical clarity. Greene has released numerous critically praised recordings, including Resurgence, Sojourner, At Home, The Other Side, Urban Jazz, Urban Jazz II, and In the Meantime, documenting a broad range of modern jazz settings.
Throughout his career, Greene has recorded and performed with an impressive roster of artists, including Pat Bianchi, David Kikoski, Steve Nelson, Paul Bollenback, Gene Bertoncini, Danny Gottlieb, Adam Nussbaum, Mark Whitfield, Rodney Jones, Dave Stryker, Reuben Rogers, Joel Frahm, Seamus Blake, and Ulysses Owens Jr., among many others. These collaborations highlight his versatility and deep connection to the language of jazz.
Equally influential is Greene’s work as an educator and author. He is the creator of Barry Greene Video Lessons (BGVL), a globally respected online learning platform used by thousands of jazz guitarists worldwide. His instructional materials—published by Mel Bay and in multiple digital formats—are widely regarded for their clarity, depth, and musical relevance.
After a long and distinguished tenure at the University of North Florida, where he has served as Professor of Jazz Guitar since 1995, Greene is now entering a new chapter—devoting more time to recording, performing, and expanding BGVL. His ongoing work continues to inspire players at every level, reaffirming his place as one of today’s most respected voices in jazz guitar.

b. 1961, Milltown, New Jersey, USA. Kikoski began playing piano at the age of six, encouraged and taught by his father, himself a part-time musician. While a teenager, Kikoski was working jazz gigs at various venues in New Jersey. He attended the Berklee College Of Music and during this time played locally as a member of a trio that included Ira Coleman and Terri Lyne Carrington. After graduating from Berklee in 1984, Kikoski played with many noted jazz musicians of the day and also worked with the Woody Herman Alumni Band. In particular, and most significantly, was an encounter with Roy Haynes who immediately hired him for a European tour. Kikoski spent 15 years with Haynes. After this time, he began another long-running stint, this time with the Mingus Big Band and the Charles Mingus Orchestra. Among numerous musicians with whom Kikoski has worked are Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Chick Corea, Peter Erskine, Al Foster, Tom Harrell, Joe Henderson, Dave Holland, Ingrid Jensen, Joe Locke, Brian Lynch, Christian McBride, Marcus Miller, Chris Potter, Red Rodney, John Scofield, Mike Stern, and Toots Thielemans.
Among regular members of his working trio have been bass players Avishai Cohen, James Genus and John Patitucci, and drummers Billy Hart, Victor Lewis and Jeff Watts.In addition to numerous homeland engagements, Kikoski has toured Japan and Russia as leader of his own trio, and in 2001 he toured with the Brecker Brothers Acoustic Band. He continued working with Haynes through the late 90s and into the early 00s. In addition to his playing, Kikoski is also a talented composer and arranger. His work as an arranger includes several charts of songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney as part of BeatleJazz, a trio he formed with bass player Charles Fambrough and drummer Brian Melvin. However, it is as a pianist that he is best known, displaying astonishing technical facility and brilliantly inventive improvisational gifts. He is also expert in the use of various electronic keyboard instruments.

In 2009 Ulysses released his debut project, "It's Time For U", which displayed his performance abilities, as well as compositions with his new quintet, " The U.O Project". In October '11 Ulysses will be recording his sophomore Album for the European Jazz Label Criss Cross based in the Netherlands. This CD will feature the stellar band Christian McBride, Nicholas Payton, Jaleel Shaw and Christian Sands. In addition to his talents as an educator, composer and performer; Ulysses has now began emerging as an up & coming producer in demand already with 3 albums for amazing jazz artists, Matthew Rybicki, Mike Cottone, and Jeremiah Abiah that will be slated for released in 2011.
