With Oltremare, acclaimed harpist Danielle Riegel offers a deeply personal tribute to the music of Ludovico Einaudi, reimagining some of his most beloved works through the intimate voice of the Celtic harp. Inspired by the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean and a shared artistic journey toward simplicity, presence, and emotional honesty, Riegel transforms Einaudi’s timeless melodies into luminous, meditative soundscapes that invite reflection and deep listening.
From the flowing waves of the title work Oltremare to the quiet beauty of Nuvole Bianche, I Giorni, and selections from Einaudi’s album 'Underwater', this recording explores music as a space of connection - between performer and listener, nature and emotion, stillness and imagination. Spacious, organic, and profoundly expressive, Oltremare is an immersive listening experience that carries familiar music beyond the horizon, revealing new colours, depth, and serenity.
Danielle is an internationally acclaimed concert harpist and versatile artist.
As a highly sensitive and intuitive child, she was drawn to the arts from an early age. She was admitted to the young talent department of the Royal Conservatory (Netherlands) at the age of 12, which marked the beginning of a successful international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and principal orchestra harpist. Danielle is a prizewinner of several major national and international harp competitions.
She has performed all over the world with renowned musicians and maestros at prestigious music festivals and concert halls in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Paris, and Madrid, among others. For 15 years, she served as the principal harpist of the Symphony Orchestra of The Hague, Netherlands. Her performances have been broadcast several times on Dutch National Television, and she had the honor of performing for Queen Beatrix at her 50th jubilee at the royal palace.
Driven by her passion for expanding horizons and inspired by her love for world folk and medicine music, she has engaged in new collaborations, most recently with Ayla Schafer, performing at sold-out concerts in Lisbon, Antwerp, and Amsterdam and recording for her new album.
In 2020, Danielle moved to Portugal, from where she offers harp concerts, sound journeys, 1:1 sessions, and movement classes and regularly plays at events and weddings. In 2022 and 2023, she performed as a soloist and alongside soprano Carla Pontes at the Algarve Harp Festival.
Most recently she deeply moved the participants of the Ecstatic Dance Festival Holland 2025 with her mesmerizing performances. In May 2025, her highly praised performance at TEDx Praça Gil Eanes marked the inaugural TEDx event in Portugal’s Algarve region.
Since 2010, Danielle also developed and shared her intuitive talents. She has taught yoga, qigong, dance expression, and Argentine tango. She also began offering sound healing sessions, Reiki, massages, and holistic coaching.
In 2020 Danielle created the much sought after ‘Harp & Sound Journeys’, a ceremonial space that starts with a sound journey with sacred instruments and a heart opening meditation, followed by an intimate concert with Meditative harp music.
And ‘Harp & Healing Sessions’ , a unique method in which she combines her expertise as a certified harp therapist, sound healer, bodyworker, and life coach to help people reconnect with their bodies, hearts, and souls. Her approach guides individuals in rediscovering the wholeness within themselves and unveiling their authentic selves.
Over the course of her 35 year career, Danielle has come to realize that this is her soul’s purpose. She is passionate about creating meaningful musical experiences and building personal connections with audiences, clients, and students.
