"... Here are four gifted narrators at work... Composition and freedom in the improvisational design are balanced on a high level..."
Jazz' n More, 01-5-2022The collaboration of these three musicians has its roots in the group led by guitarist Guillermo Celano and drummer Marc Baggiani in Amsterdam: the C.B.G (acronym for Celano/Baggiani Group).
Celano and Baggiani met in 2001 in Amsterdam and a clear musical click put them immediately on the railways of a long term collaboration, immersed in the eclectic Amsterdam’s jazz/impro scene.
Since then they share a sound universe that has embarked them on various musical adventures. They have led several groups together, including C.B.G, Lily’s deja vu and Antimufa.
The recordings of the C.B.G have been released by CleanFeed, Kuai Music, Trytone Records,
MDR and BAU, collaborating with musicians such as Michael Moore, Ellery Eskelin, Natalio Sued, Gorka Benitez and Sven Schuster among others.
In 2013 Guillermo Celano won The North sea jazz composition assignment and, together with his old friend and virtuoso drummer Marc Baggiani, decided to bring together a new band with Joachim Badenhorst on tenor sax, clarinet and bass clarinet and Clemens van der Feen on double bass
In 2016 as an offspring of the quartet the band started experimenting as a trio without bass, researching this unconventional instrumentation and exploring the compositional and sonorous possibilities of the trio. In 2018 their first album as a trio “Lily & Marleen” came out through Clean Feed.
During the tours that succeeded the release of their album, the band took the freedom to collaborate with different musicians, among them Wolfert Brederode. That collaboration stood out as a musical milestone in the band, paving the way for a new and adventurous quartet.
“Surprisingly, pianist Wolfert Brederode has been added to the trio. This is remarkable ... the ECM artist is a breed improviser, who holds up tightly within this remarkable combo. His contributions are adventurous and effective "
Their music is an amalgam of different styles, which are connected by the far-reaching improvisational art of the four performers”

On this beautiful album we hear four masters working in perfect harmony. The album Carnet Imaginaire grabs you, pulls you in and won't let go until the end.
SK Jazz, 25-8-2022
... Between pointillist sound fabrics and more straightforward structures, wind player Joachim Badenhorst, drummer Marcos Baggiani, guitarist Guillermo Celano and Brederode create organically pulsating soundscapes that can be classified somewhere between chamber jazz and more experimental styles...
Concerto, 01-6-2022
... The pieces take their time, the spaces breathe deeply. There are free, lyrical breaks, sometimes a relaxed fusion feeling, then again adventurous detours and also a touch of imaginary exoticism...

... And so the music lives from a lot of spontaneously appearing design, from reinventing melody sequences, which cover everything from beautiful to abstract...
Musikansich, 20-3-2022
... The individual tracks are performed perfectly, with an authentic message and at the highest artistic level. The production and the sound of the album also deserve recognition.
