About the album

The very moment intuition, knowledge and craftsmanship collide as one the chain reaction creates an energy in which a masterpiece is created. The audience senses the quality of the event instantly, without any explanation. On this beautiful album we hear four masters at work in total synergy.

Carnet Imaginaire grabs a hold on you, pulls you in and doesn’t let you go until the very end. Once again there’s no explanation needed. Effortlessly the music itself shows the direction. The listener follows the lead of each carefully crafted composition and improvisation, by these wonderful musicians.

Clearly a natural choice, the trio’s decision to have pianist Wolfert Brederode as a featured guest turns out to be perfect. Guillermo Celano, Marcos Baggiani and Joachim Badenhorst are true storytellers, creating their landscapes with a wide variety of shapes and colors.
I hope you enjoy this album as much as I do.
- Jasper Somsen

Jazz' n More, 01-5-2022

... In contrast to the first film "Lily & Marleen" (2018), the new tracks appear the new tracks in the larger line up seem even more open and versatile.
Inmusic, 05-4-2022

... add Wolfert Brederode as a gifted improviser on the piano and let their detailed compositions and improvisations resound in lyrical intimacy...
NaDann, 25-3-2022

... Elegant melodies peel out of stumbled sequences of beats, great melancholic themes grow out of quiet banter, enigmatic voices murmur and lament, tribal beats seek their way in the diffuse sonic interference fire of manipulated saxophone and manipulated guitars...
NDR Kultur Cd of the week, 04-3-2022

On this beautiful album we hear four masters working in perfect harmony. The album Carnet Imaginaire grabs you, pulls you in and won't let go until the end.
SK Jazz, 25-8-2022

... Between pointillist sound fabrics and more straightforward structures, wind player Joachim Badenhorst, drummer Marcos Baggiani, guitarist Guillermo Celano and Brederode create organically pulsating soundscapes that can be classified somewhere between chamber jazz and more experimental styles...
Concerto, 01-6-2022

... The pieces take their time, the spaces breathe deeply. There are free, lyrical breaks, sometimes a relaxed fusion feeling, then again adventurous detours and also a touch of imaginary exoticism...
Jazzthing 06 2022, 27-5-2022

... And so the music lives from a lot of spontaneously appearing design, from reinventing melody sequences, which cover everything from beautiful to abstract...
Musikansich, 20-3-2022

... The individual tracks are performed perfectly, with an authentic message and at the highest artistic level. The production and the sound of the album also deserve recognition.
